PEMBANGUNAN BERTERASKAN ISLAM (PBI)
Pembangunan berteraskan Islam (PBI) adalah suatu disiplin baru yang telah muncul sekitar tahun 1970-an. Menurut Muhammad Syukri Salleh (2008), PBI yang merujuk kepada proses pembangunan yang komprehensif, bersepadu dan seimbang. Ia melibatkan semua aspek kehidupan manusia sebagai individu, masyarakat dan negara. PBI juga merangkumi tujuh prinsip Pembangunan Islam yang terdiri daripada pengukuhan aspek-aspek rohani dan fizikal.

Dalam kes ini, 'tasawur' berperanan sebagai asas di dalam PBI dan adalah prinsip pertama. Menurut Muhammad Syukri Salleh (2008), al-Quran secara langsung atau tidak langsung menggambarkan tiga perkara penting iaitu elemen-elemen utama di dalam Islam 'tasawur'. Pertama, Allah adalah pencipta. Keduanya, manusia sebagai ciptaan. Ketiga, alam semesta sebagai ciptaan yang terlalu.

Sementara itu, Shukri Hanafi (2012) berhujah bahawa 'tasawur' Islam terdiri daripada tiga aspek utama iaitu Akidah, ibadah dan akhlaq.
