Kemunculan internet telah banyak menyumbang kepada penghantaran pesat dan penyebaran
maklumat dan secara tidak langsung telah memberi manfaat kepada pembangunan sosial dalam masyarakat. Dengan perkembangan pesat ICT dalam pembangunan sesebuah negara, negara-negara di dunia telah mengambil peluang untuk menggunakan teknologi dalam meningkatkan taraf hidup penduduknya. Antara contoh alat ICT digunakan adalah Internet, telefon, sistem transaksi, peranti bersepadu, multimedia dan sebagainya forth.Nayak et al. (2010) menyatakan bahawa penggunaan ICT boleh memberi manfaat kepada pengguna kerana ia boleh membantu dalam menyebarkan maklumat, membolehkan interaksi sosial, membantu dalam pembangunan ekonomi dan perdagangan, politik, media, pendidikan, hiburan, kesihatan dan sebagainya.
