Bagi memudahkan perbincangan kertas kerja ini, ciri-ciri bangunan hijau yang mendapat pengiktirafan GBI bagi Masjid Cyberjaya dibincangkan melalui tiga perkara utama iaitu kecekapan tenaga melalui teknologi moden, kecekapan melalui teknologi pasif dan kecekapan bahan binaan.
a) Kecekapan Tenaga Melalui Teknologi Moden Dalam Bangunan
Terdapat beberapa penggunaan teknologi moden untuk meningkatkan kecekapan yang dikaitkan dengan bangunan hijau Masjid Cyberjaya. Penggunaan teknologi moden tersebut merangkumi tiga ciri-ciri iaitu penjanaan sumber tenaga daripada panel solar, penggunaan teknologi sistem VRF dan penggunaan teknologi lampu cekap tenaga LED.
Panel solar digunakan untuk menjana tenaga diperbaharui bagi masjid. Sebanyak 740 panel solar dijadikan sebagai bumbung masjid. Selain menggunakan panel solar, Masjid Cyberjaya juga menggunakan teknologi moden penghawa dingin bersistem VRF untuk meningkatkan kecekapan penggunaan (Masjidcyberjaya, 2016). Penggunaan sistem VRF merujuk kepada keupayaan sistem automatik untuk mengawal suhu dalaman bangunan berbanding dengan kaedah tutup dan buka (on/off) yang biasa digunakan dalam pengoperasian. Sistem ini membolehkan penjimatan tenaga sehingga 55 peratus dalam pengoperasian penghawa dingin. Hal ini memberi kesan penjimatan kepada kos pengoperasian masjid. Bagi meningkatkan lagi kecekapan penggunan tenaga, sistem penghawa dingin masjid dibuka selama dua jam pada waktu tertentu seperti solat Jumaat, solat Aidilfitri dan solat Aidiladha serta sambutan Ramadan (Masjidcyberjaya, 2016). Bagi kecekapan pencahayaan masjid pula, lampu LED dipasang secara sistem berpusat serta dikawal secara pintar. Lampu tersebut juga dilengkapi sistem pengesan automatik agar pembaziran elektrik dapat dielakkan serta bersifat mudah penyelenggaraan.
